When Snow's Falling

When snow's falling, spiral-shaped,
In twists and curls to meet the ground,
When beauty in the wind is found
(Do listen to its clear sound!),
You know Hope has escaped

From its long journey in the cold,
From its dark prison in despair
Which seemed to be its final lair,
And has returned to us - my fair
Friend, no more untruth for being told!

When snow's falling, when you dream
Of distant shores and lands unknown,
Do not you always feel alone?
Though gold and silver you do own,
There's no sunlight in its gleam.

My fair friend! That wintry day,
When I first saw you in a crowd,
Was of its stormy clouds proud -
O winter clouds, dark and stout,
You saw me cry, you heard me pray!

When snow's falling, when you need
Someone to talk to in the even,
A silent shadow's all you're given,
And no chance for you to liven -
There's no hope then indeed!

But what to do at time like this?
I wish I could from storm appear,
Like an enchanter or a seer,
To tell you just that I am here
To light the dark and break the mist!

When snow's falling, fair, smile!
You know you are not alone
When tempests in the sky do groan
In deep and mesmerizing tone,
Extending daily for a mile.

There just beside you, the unseen,
Providing shelter for your fears,
Your own guardian appears
To cherish you, wipe off your tears -
Until the white turns into green.
